We have been working on measurement this month during our math studies and in anticipation of some snow, the kids made their own measurement tool to use when it does!
We are working on the book, This is My Mom this week in reading groups. It talks about all the different kind of jobs that moms have outside of the home. We are reviewing the sight word this, is, and my during our word work activities. Our new sight word this week is she and we have been introduced to the sound that the sh makes when put together. The children are doing an amazing job!
We explored nonstandard units of measurement during small groups. During our measurement experiment we made predictions about how many “marshmallows” (large and small) long we thought each item would be. We tested our predictions and found the actual length of each item, then recorded it our math log.
We worked on letter formation in the letters of our names as we build our personalized snowmen. Working on HOW we form our letters is just as important as being able to recognize them and know their sounds.
