  • G is for Gum ball…and glasses and grasshopper!

Focused on the letter G, the toddlers got to experience putting a penny into the gum ball machine.  We all guessed what color would come out!  We then created our own gum ball machine craft using colored circle stickers as gum balls.

F is for Fall and H is for Haunted House!  Lots of fine motor skills used to create letter crafts this month!

Whoo Whoo knows about owls and triangles?  Oliver the owl puppet came out to say Whoo Whoo!  Five Little Owls, a triangle owl craft, building triangles, matching triangles, sorting by color, games, and more helped the toddlers learn about owls and triangles!

  • Learning Colors and Shapes with Penguins!

The studio toddlers had a penguin party, using penguins to help us match colors. They had to match the penguin’s hat to the color scarf the penguin was wearing. Sometimes our friends will choose a color on their own, and then they try to name the color for us. Other times we will direct them to a specific color to try and challenge them to find colors they may not know as well as others.

In our other small group, we used our shape of the month, triangle, to make a penguin of our own! Here, our learners follow 1 and 2 step directions to complete the activity.

  • Triangles have three sides!

We have counted the sides of a triangle many times in the toddler room in October!  We made triangles with popsicle sticks, created triangle owl art, played at the easel center with contact paper and triangles, and glued triangle collages.  Stay tuned for the shape of the month in November!

  • Triangles on Triangles!

We have been talking about triangles this month in the toddler room, and learning about the 3 sides a triangle has. When learning about shapes, it is always fun to see if they can find every day objects that are made of triangles, like the roof of a house! Below you can see we even used triangles to help make our “‘D’ is for ‘Dinosaur'” alphabet page!

  • Terrifically Triangular!

Our toddlers have had a lot of practice with triangles so far this month. Because we know how important repetition is in order for our toddlers to learn, we incorporated triangles into most of our daily activities! Below you can see how we implement the triangle into different parts of our day.

At our art center our friends practiced sticking tissue paper triangles onto contact paper on our easel.  IMG_7401

In one of our small groups we practiced using a glue stick to paste triangles on a bigger triangle and made a triangle mosaic. We also used triangle sponges to paint triangles onto our triangle paper. In the other small group, we made triangles, using popsicle sticks, and practiced counting the 3 sides.

Our toddler friends practiced using a glue stick again in their art project with Ms. Kristen! They made owls using the triangle, too!
