This month we are learning about the triangle.
“Play allows children to use their creativity while developing their imagination, dexterity, and physical, cognitive, and emotional strength,” according to the AAP report. It allows children to explore the world, practice adult roles, and gain confidence. And it improves children’s social skills as well, by helping them to “learn how to work in groups, to share, to negotiate, to resolve conflicts, and to learn self-advocacy skills.” *

Today we read “Autumn Orange” and found lots of orange items inside.
Later we explored the color orange in our discovery tubs.
We also combined last month’s color (yellow) with this month’s color (orange).
Earlier this week we read “There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly!”
Then we made an old lady puppet and animals to retell the story.
Everyone loved feeding the old lady!
As September comes to an end, so does our transportation theme. What better way to end our theme than with trains? Everyone in class really enjoyed our stories “Freight Train” and “I Love Trains!” Later we created our own train! We had so much fun chugging along the track. Inside the classroom we have lots of trains to play with.
