We are focusing on stars this month in the Toddler room. We practice singing, “Twinkle Twinkle, Little Star”, during group and music time! Today the children used star shaped cookie cutters to paint blue and pink stars. They also used star shapes to mold play doh. The boys and girls used their fine motor skills to grab the cookie cutters and move them up and down!
To continue with our unit on senses, we read the story “My Five Senses” during group time. This is an interactive book where the children point out how they use their senses. The boys and girls got the hang of it as they followed along with the book!

I touch with my… hands!
I smell with my… nose!
I taste with my… mouth!
One of our objectives this month is the concept of fast and slow. During group time, the children make clapping patterns, sing songs, and do finger plays fast and slow. Today the boys and girls used this concept during indoor gross motor time. We opened up a large area in the room and let the children move the giant trucks fast and slow. They had a blast going fast and “slamming” on the breaks!
Throughout the month, the Toddlers have been learning all about their senses. Today we focused on touch. The boys and girls molded and manipulated playdoh while strengthening their fine motor skills. We also worked on sorting today. We practiced placing soft and hard balls into the correct container. The children did a great job determining where the objects belong.
Today the Toddlers helped decorate our room with festive lollipops! The boys and girls took turns painting rainbow colors all over the paper plates. They turned out so cute, we decided to put them on display in our room!
This month we are learning all about our senses! During group time this week, we have been reading the story, “Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear?” The children like to chime in on all of the noises the animals make throughout the book. During our art center today, the boys and girls used their fine motor skills to add white rice to the polar bears body.
Over Thanksgiving break, our room transformed into a winter candy land! There is candy hanging from the ceiling and . We have lots of new centers for the boys and girls to explore. The children enjoyed building towers with big blocks, baking cookies in the kitchen, and pushing new trucks all over the room.
The toddlers had another fun day decorating festive cookies and painting turkeys with water colors! The boys and girls enjoyed singing songs and playing the guitar with Ms.Joanie during music and movement. We practiced “Jingle Bells” and “A turkey is a funny bird”. The Toddlers had a great day filled with turkey fun! To celebrate the upcoming holiday of Thanksgiving, the boys and girls spent their day adding noodle “feathers” to turkeys and read stories about Thanksgiving day. We had a cookie decorating party for snack! The children added fall colored icing and sprinkles and then enjoyed their creations!
Today the toddlers had so much fun singing and dancing with Ms. Joanie! The boys and girls played various instruments and practiced keeping on the beat. We even had a chance to sing “Elmo’s World” and bounce Elmo on a shiny scarf! There were lots of giggles and smiles today.. we love when Ms. Joanie pays us a visit!
