  • Toddlers Down on the Farm

The toddlers utilized the farm theme to reinforce shape, color, counting, fine motor, and vocabulary skills.  We sang Old McDonald and read The Big Red Barn.  Our learning environment this month includes farm puzzles, toys, animals, and even a farmer’s market for pretend play.

A square scarecrow was our weekly craft.

We practiced using glue sticks for this craft!

Tractor painting while discussing different colors created a fun sensory experience!

Pigs covered in mud was another fun sensory experience.  We watched a video of real pigs rolling in the mud.

Pin the tail on the piggy!

    Milk the cow!

Roll the die to see how many wool rolls to put on the sheep.

  • Square Study!

We have been focused on our shape of the month:  Square!

  • Promoting Creative Thinking in Preschool

We read the story “Perfect Square” and used this as the inspiration for our art project this week.  In the story, the squares get ripped and torn, but are created into something new and beautiful. We challenged our preschoolers to think outside of the box! They tore apart their squares and put the pieces together to recreate their square into something new as well!

  • Sponge Painting with Squares

We introduced our shape of the month this morning during small groups. The preschoolers counted the sides of a square and used square sponges to cover their square picture. We played ‘I Spy Squares’ and searched for squares all over our classroom. Play ‘I Spy Squares’ at home with your little one, see how many squares you can discover!
