We have been working on counting by tens over the past few weeks and put our practice to the test as we sorted like snack items in groups of ten and combined them into a 100 item snack. Delicious!

Playing with blocks provides endless opportunity for the development of emerging perceptual-motor skills. While exploring blocks, the children are developing hand-eye coordination. The Toddlers love to stack blocks as high as they can and knock them down. This week we used blocks at the table. The boys and girls built tall foam towers using shaving cream and manipulated thistle blocks during another center.
The Toddlers have been working on sorting over the past couple of months. This week the boys and girls worked on sorting hearts by shape and color. The children were put into small groups and practiced taking turns sorting into different piles. They’re doing a great job!
This month the Toddlers have been working on identifying rectangles. The boys and girls went over color recognition and counting to five during this activity!
This month, the Toddlers have been working on the vocabulary and concept of top, middle, and bottom. The children have lots of opportunities to build on this concept throughout the classroom. Today the boys and girls took turns placing clothing on the magnetic board.
The Toddlers have been strengthening their fine motor skills. The boys and girls used clothespins to move pom poms into colored cups. The children worked on color recognition and sorting… they did a great job!
The Early 3’s are continuing to work on sorting and recognizing letters. This week we are focusing on letters S and Y. The students sorted letters onto paper plates. When it got too easy to sort out the S’s and Y’s they took it a step further and sorted the letters by color!
Throughout the month, the Toddlers have been learning all about their senses. Today we focused on touch. The boys and girls molded and manipulated playdoh while strengthening their fine motor skills. We also worked on sorting today. We practiced placing soft and hard balls into the correct container. The children did a great job determining where the objects belong.
