  • First Day of Pre-K

We have been long awaiting this day and it has finally come!  Our Pre-ker’s had a great first day of school.  We reviewed the procedures and routines of our classroom through sequencing activities to get us reacquainted.  We can’t wait for a great year!

  • Elephant Number Train

We reviewed our numbers to 20 today and put them sequential order by creating a elephant number train.  The kids did a GREAT job!  Keep practicing numbers 11-20 at home!

  • Sequencing Events

We worked today in small groups on sequencing events. Sequencing is the ability to put the events of a story in the order in which they occurred.  Teaching sequencing to early learners is important because logical order of thinking is fundamental to reading and everyday life.

introduction to mathematics and sequencing using patterns

The preschoolers had a howling good time today when they used the halloween cards to create different patterns.  We created AB patterns along with AAB patterns. Most children were able to extend the pattern I created, independently.  The next step is for the children to create and extend their own patterns.  We will continue patterning in math through the end of October.  They are doing a GREAT job.  Keep practicing at home…and have fun!  Helpful Hint:  Use the upcoming BUCKETFUL of halloween candy, before you begin to pass it out to the trick-or-treaters, to create yummy patterns (i.e. nerds-candy bar-lollipop; nerds-candy bar-lollipop; nerds-candy bar-lollipop).
