  • Exploring Our Classroom!

The Studio Toddler class has done such a wonderful job adjusting to their new routine and getting to know their friends and classroom. We have several different centers that our students can play in during their free choice time, as well as table activities that relate to our monthly objectives. See some of their exploring in the photos below!

While our friends are still getting used to our classroom environment, we have been pulling students on an individual basis to do art projects. When we start learning our small group routine, these will be some of the types of projects we will complete in small groups, and some we will still work on individually with each student.

  • Learning About the World Around Us

Playing outdoors allows our toddlers to learn about the world around them. Can sticks stand up in the sand? How does mud feel? Why do we slide down instead of up the slide? How do I make my truck go faster? How does the tree create cool shade from the sun? Why is the water in the water table cool in the morning and warm in the afternoon? Not only do children learn many of the basic and fundamentals about how the world works around them, they are more apt to remember what they learned because it was a concrete and personally meaningful experience!

  • My Child is LEARNING on the playground??

Young children need opportunities to develop their bodies and coordination by running, jumping, climbing, lifting, pushing, and pulling.  Physiological readiness precedes other learning.  The playground is a natural place for physical development as well as for social and emotional development.  You children need challenging playground experiences to develop early self-confidence along with large-muscle skills and coordination.

  • Winter Weather is Here…

As the winter weather quickly begins to come upon us, please remember that WE WILL GO OUTSIDE FOR RECESS IF THE TEMPERATURE IS ABOVE 32 DEGREES.  Giving the children a break from the structure of the classroom and an opportunity to be physically active is a vital part of our day.

Please remember to dress your children appropriately for the weather- no skirts without tights or slip on shoes without socks.  One very important thing to remember is a hat and mittens. WE ASK THAT YOU SEND MITTENS WITH YOUR CHILD IN LIEU OF GLOVES. Imagine, if you will, putting on 24 pairs of gloves onto 48 individual itty bitty preschool size hands.  It is, to say the least, very time consuming and takes up some of their playtime outside.  Please purchase mittens for school to help us with the preparation for recess.  In advance THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU FROM ALL OF US!
