  • Counting beads

The early 3’s are really working hard to recognize their numbers…today they named the number and then counted out many beads matched the number in the cup. They got in a fine motor work out when they picked up the small beads with their pincher fingers. This is an easy and fun game to make with your child and do at home!

  • My Favorite Scent

We talked about our sense of smell today in the Early 3’s. We used our noses to smell different candles and then graphed which ones were our favorite. When we were done we counted how many people liked each scent and which scent was the class favorite.

  • Counting for Dinner

The Early 3’s have been learning to identify the numbers 1-5. They practiced reading numbers written on paper plates and filling the plate with the correct amount of food. This was a great way to practice reading the numbers, counting out the food, and work on one-to-one correspondence all at the same time!

  • Parts of A Tree

We’ve been talking all about trees this month! The Early 3’s got to take a closer look at the parts of a tree on Friday. We talked about the bark, leaves, trunk, and branches. The children talked about how each part felt, what it looked like, and how it smelled.

  • Fall Y’s

The Early 3’s have been learning to identify the letter Y and its corresponding sound. Today we decided to dress our “Y” in fall leaves to keep it festive for our November theme of nature. We have been looking for the letter “Y” in words that we use and in our friends names. Ask your early 3 to sing you “The Letter Y Song”.

  • The Early 3’s Tell Spooky Stories

The Early 3’s had a SPOOKTACULAR time telling scary stories with the Halloween finger puppets today! This was a great way to work on oral story telling while still having fun for Halloween! The early 3’s made up stories about spooky flying bats and cackling witches. You can make up stories with your child using objects and toys you have at home!

  • What’s Missing From the Letter H?

The Early 3’s put their detective caps on today when they had to look at the letter H and figure out what was missing! When they figured it out, they used crayons to finish the letter. Good work detectives!

  • We Can Make Horizontal and Vertical Lines!

We have been working very hard on our writing in Early 3’s! Today we wrote with our fingers…in the shaving cream! We worked on making horizontal and vertical lines. These activities lead to the ability to form letters and numbers. Next time you take your preschooler to the park, show them how to make lines in the sand!

  • Racing Down Vertical and Horizontal Lines

We are working on vertical and horizontal lines in the early 3’s room so we raced our cars down horizontal and vertical racetracks! The children loved going forward and backward on the tracks with their cars. This pre-writing activity is a fun way to help your child learn to control their fine motor muscles since they have to keep the car on the narrow track.

  • Smell, Squeeze, and Taste the Color Orange

The Early 3’s wrapped up the month of October’s color orange by exploring the fruit named after the color! We discussed how an orange smells, used our fine motor muscles to squeeze the juice out, and then used our taste buds to taste the juice. Nothing like fresh squeezed orange juice!
