The early 3’s have been practicing AB patterns. Today we used bows to practice making patterns!
Today during group time we played a game called “Who’s in the Present?” ALl of the children had to close their eyes while one child was picked to go inside of the present. When they heard “open your eyes!”, they couldn’t wait to look around and try and figure out who was missing from the group! If they were having a hard time, they got a clue if it was a boy or a girl. When they made their final guess, we turned the present around to find out who was inside! This was the highlight of their afternoon! All we kept hearing was “Can we do it again!!”
As the winter weather quickly begins to come upon us, please remember that WE WILL GO OUTSIDE FOR RECESS IF THE TEMPERATURE IS ABOVE 32 DEGREES. Giving the children a break from the structure of the classroom and an opportunity to be physically active is a vital part of our day.
Please remember to dress your children appropriately for the weather- no skirts without tights or slip on shoes without socks. One very important thing to remember is a hat and mittens. WE ASK THAT YOU SEND MITTENS WITH YOUR CHILD IN LIEU OF GLOVES. Imagine, if you will, putting on 24 pairs of gloves onto 48 individual itty bitty preschool size hands. It is, to say the least, very time consuming and takes up some of their playtime outside. Please purchase mittens for school to help us with the preparation for recess. In advance THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU FROM ALL OF US!
Here are some of our Early 3’s children working hard at their scissor skills! They are cutting their paper into little pieces and sorting the scraps by color. They are really coming a long way with their scissors!
During the Early 3’s class, Walter has decided to do an activity from the science/math shelf. For this activity Walter is using the different circle cards to match them to his circle mat.
Thank you to everyone who came out on Friday for our first annual Harvest Festival! We are so lucky to have such wonderful families here at Tots and we always look forward to the times we get to spend with everyone outside of the classroom. There were some GREAT costumes! Thanks everyone!
This afternoon during small group time, the kids worked on patterning and letter matching. In Miss Darcy’s patterning group, they used little pom poms to make the AB patterns on their cards. In the letter matching group, the kids got to take turns picking a piece of clothing and matching it with the same letter clothes pin. They loved hanging up the clothes on the clothes line!
This afternoon Jessica was practicing one of the science center activities with color matching. For this activity she had to use the clothes pins to match the turkeys feathers. This is not only a great activity for color matching, but it is wonderful for practicing those fine motor skills!
