The favorite part of our day…show and share! But how are the children benefiting from the experiences?
We started our unit this week about Farm Harvests! After reading the book, The Little Red Hen by Jerry Pinky, we watched as a real farmer harvested his fields of wheat and transported them to the silo in a gravity wagon. The big machines were fun to watch! We hit the kitchen and made our own homemade bread and we made sure to all help so that we could all enjoy the delicious snack when it came out of the oven!
Writing on a vertical surface is beneficial to a child who is a beginning writer. The angle of a the vertical surface makes it easier for children to see and, as a result, develop fine motor skills. The slant of the board also promotes shoulder, arm and hand coordination.
