  • The Famous Technique of Georges Seurat

Ms. Penny joined our classes Thursday and Friday afternoon to teach us about a french artist who used dots to create his paintings.  His name was Georges Seurat.  After we learned about his technique and examined one of his famous paintings, Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte, we tried our hand at our own creation using his unique painting technique.  Some of us even put it into practice at the art center all by ourselves…there were snowmen made out of dots and other great creations too!

The children have been using bright and beautiful water colors to create turkey feathers.  This week we have been talking about the Thanksgiving holiday and they couldn’t wait to create their own turkeys! Here is a song we have been singing that you can try to sing at home!

  • Tracing Letters!

This afternoon the early 3’s practiced tracing the letter P on our art table.  They used roller paints to trace over the letter P’s on the table.  Not only is it fun to use the roller paints but it was great writing practice for them!

    experimenting with watercolors

Ezra is concentrating hard at painting the letter “H”!  This week we are focusing on the letter “H” and today the kids were able to use watercolors to paint the letter!  He is also looking closely to see what animals are on his paper that begin with the letter “H”.  Orange paint was the color choice today as we talk about it each day to reinforce the color of the month.
