We had so much fun at Music Camp this week. Ms. Joanie came to see us everyday. She played her guitar and sang some classics and a few new tunes. We used shaker eggs to make our own music.
We took turns painting a tambourine. After they dried, we added stickers so we could take home our own instruments.
Outside time is a big part of camp. We make new friends, shoot hoops, and explore.
We took some time to work on a card for Father’s Day. After painting each child’s foot orange, we turned the footprint into a guitar. “My Dad Rocks!”
The Kona ice truck is always a big hit!
Ms. Joanie is such a fun part of the Creative Tots family. She comes once a week with her engaging attitude and happy disposition. Ms. Joanie often plays her guitar, drum, shaker eggs, or bells. The children think it is hilarious when Elmo makes a guest visit. The children listen intently as Joanie teaches the parts of her guitar, breathing exercises, and music terms. The toddlers love to join in singing classics like “Wheels on the Bus” and “Twinkle Twinkle” but Ms. Joanie is always teaching us a new song. Ms. Joanie will join us for the Valentine’s parties in February so families will get to witness her infectious joy.
It has been a wonderful September, and the studio toddler class has been breaking in our brand new classroom wonderfully! Below you can find some of our students enjoying their free play time and see them exploring their new environment.
Art is a favorite activity for many of our students, and their curiosity and eagerness to try new things has been so amazing. We did a craft incorporating yellow, our color of the month, and circles. We use an abstract painting tool–a lemon! They got to smell the lemon, and taste a piece of it if they wanted, and then used it as a stamp on their paper.
We also had our first visit from Ms. Joanie. Ms. Joanie is the music teacher at Creative Tots, and she visits our class every other Tuesday! Our students already got to play her drum, and say hello to Elmo (Ms. Joanie does an awesome Elmo laugh FYI 🙂 )
Check back in to see a sneak peak of our art show we will begin working on, as well as some examples of the small group activities we do.
We had our first music class of the year with, the one and only, Ms. Joanie! The kids just loved her! She comes once a week to sing with the kids, let them play/learn new instruments, and teach them music vocabulary!
Music is very important for our preschoolers. It ignites all areas of child development (intellectual, social, emotional, motor, language). Music helps the body and mind work together, and can teach them sounds and meanings of words.
Creative Tots has specialized in the private education of both toddlers and preschool age children for over 15 years. We began in the heart of Madeira and now also have a new Mason location. We are specifically designed to focus on early childhood development for children ages 18 months to 5 years.
