  • Alphabet Cover-Up

This month in preschool we are focusing on the letters Aa, Bb, Cc. Today during small groups we played Alphabet Coverup to practice our letters. Each preschooler has a Alphabet Coverup game board in their homework folder. This is a great tool for all kinds of learning fun. This morning, I wrote A, a, B, b, C, c on the board. This is an easy way to practice letter recognition and letter sounds. Have fun with your preschooler practicing letters!

  • Playdough Perfection: Upper and Lowercase Letter Matching

We continued our letter sound practice today with a twist!  When given a sound, the children found both the upper and lowercase letter that makes the sound and prints it into the play dough!  Making learning fun is the quickest way to get our little ones engaged and ready to learn!

  • Getting Things Started in Pre-K!

Pre-K is off to a great start!  We explored our letter sounds today and learned how to take care of our classroom.  We also got our fine motor muscles moving as we reviewed our basic scissor skills.  Keep an eye out for your child’s homework and V.I.P. folders in backpacks today!

  • Lemons Vs. Limes

We have been taking a look at the letter “L”! We decided our senses needed a taste too, so we compared lemons and limes in a taste test. Find out which one your early 3 preferred by checking faces in these pictures…or by just looking at the chart at the end!

  • L is for Licorice!

Last week, the Toddlers learned about the letter L. They used their fine motor skills to pinch and grip the small licorice bites as they placed them on the letter L. They did a great job working in teams of two!

  • The -all Word Family Home

We created a home for our new word family today.  Our focus this week is the -all family.  This one is a bit tricky because we cannot sound out the word all, it is a true sight word that we must be able to recognize by sight only.  We added -all family members to our homes and took them home to read to our own families.

  • Building Number Words

Our focus this week will be number words.  We will be reading the book, Lost Feathers, by Bruce Larkin to become familiar with number words in text.  Today we started it off by building, tracing and writing number words one and two.  We will continue to number ten throughout the week.
