  • Exploring Our Classroom!

The Studio Toddler class has done such a wonderful job adjusting to their new routine and getting to know their friends and classroom. We have several different centers that our students can play in during their free choice time, as well as table activities that relate to our monthly objectives. See some of their exploring in the photos below!

While our friends are still getting used to our classroom environment, we have been pulling students on an individual basis to do art projects. When we start learning our small group routine, these will be some of the types of projects we will complete in small groups, and some we will still work on individually with each student.

  • Our First Month of School!

It has been a wonderful September, and the studio toddler class has been breaking in our brand new classroom wonderfully! Below you can find some of our students enjoying their free play time and see them exploring their new environment.

Art is a favorite activity for many of our students, and their curiosity and eagerness to try new things has been so amazing. We did a craft incorporating yellow, our color of the month, and circles. We use an abstract painting tool–a lemon! They got to smell the lemon, and taste a piece of it if they wanted, and then used it as a stamp on their paper.

We also had our first visit from Ms. Joanie. Ms. Joanie is the music teacher at Creative Tots, and she visits our class every other Tuesday! Our students already got to play her drum, and say hello to Elmo (Ms. Joanie does an awesome Elmo laugh FYI 🙂 )

  • Hello, Yellow!

The color we have been focusing on in the toddler classroom this month is the color yellow. We incorporate the color of the month into different small group activities, art projects, and within our centers whenever we can!

For one of our small groups, we found yellow play-dough in Ms. Kristen’s mystery can, and we got to make our own yellow play-dough! Each of our friends took a turn adding different ingredients for our play-dough recipe. They do such a good job waiting for their turn!

Yellow bean bag toss to practice gross motor skills! Gross motor skills are such an important part of your toddler’s physical development. Having different types of movement activities helps to promote muscle movement, and strengthen coordination.

We love to do art projects with our friends, especially ones that involve using our senses! Our friends were able to make some lemon prints, using real lemons, which they got to smell and taste before we used them for painting. They were so sour! 🙂
