  • Hot and Cold

The toddlers participated in some fun activities to learn the concept of hot and cold using senses.  We practiced scooping with a hot cocoa sensory bin.

A special snack of “hot” cocoa and cold ice cream provided a sweet way to learn about opposites through the sense of taste and touch.

  • Mother’s Day, Water Study, and Summertime Sweets

Our study of gardens and flowers aligned nicely with our handmade Mother’s Day Cards.  The toddlers used stickers and drawn stems for the inside of the card while a sweet fingerprint bouquet was on the front.  We also created flowers using the bottom of a bottle and stickers.

We moved onto our focus on water and the ocean using sensory tubs and crafts.

Summer Sweets:  making muffins, creating popsicles, and ice cream match!

    Summer!!!

  • I is for Ice Cream!

For letter “Ii” week, we dedicated a whole day to ice cream related activities! We built our name with scoops of ice cream, did an ice cream themed uppercase/lowercase letter matching activity, counted ice cream scoops (pom poms) onto numbered cones, ate a neapolitan ice cream snack and voted on which flavor we liked best!

  • The Preschool Scoop

What a great first week of school at Creative Tots!! In the PM Preschool and Preschool Prep classes, we had an ice cream themed week inspired by the book “Should I Share My Ice Cream?” By Mo Willems. The students learned about sharing, while meeting new friends and enjoying some delicious ice cream! What a great start to the year with an even better group of kids!

We started the afternoon with ice cream sensory tubs!

We found our own name tags and made necklaces out of them!

We had our ice cream snack outside in the sun!

We practiced sharing our own ice cream with friends!

Then we had a dance party!

Our question of the day was a tough one…choosing between chocolate, strawberry and vanilla ice cream.
