  • Hello, Yellow!

The color we have been focusing on in the toddler classroom this month is the color yellow. We incorporate the color of the month into different small group activities, art projects, and within our centers whenever we can!

For one of our small groups, we found yellow play-dough in Ms. Kristen’s mystery can, and we got to make our own yellow play-dough! Each of our friends took a turn adding different ingredients for our play-dough recipe. They do such a good job waiting for their turn!

We love to do art projects with our friends, especially ones that involve using our senses! Our friends were able to make some lemon prints, using real lemons, which they got to smell and taste before we used them for painting. They were so sour! 🙂

  • Strengthening our gross motor skills!

Toddlers need lots of opportunities for physical activity, for both good health and skill building. Gross motor skills are very important for major body movements such as walking, running, coordination, and maintaining balance. Today the boys and girls were rocking on the teeter totter, climbing up the ladder, and pushing cars in the mulch. Check out how much fun we had outside on the playground!

  • Rainy Day Fun!

It was such a rainy day outside! We decided it was the perfect day for a parachute party! We were able to sing and laugh with our friends while working on our gross-motor skills and out hand-eye coordination!

  • Building Gross Motor Skills

Since gross motor skills can be learned and improve with practice, children need plenty of opportunities to exercise these skills.  If you want to learn about other activities you can do with your child to help them develop better gross motor skills, click on the first picture below.
