In small groups this afternoon, the kids had the opportunity to play two different math games that focused on number recognition and one-to-one correspondence. We had fun, fun, fun!
Ingredients
What you do:
Mix the dry ingredients. Add spices a small amount at a time until the dough smells and looks like you want it too. Mix water and oil together first and then add them to the dry ingredients and stir. In a pot, cook the mixture for two to three minutes, stirring frequently. The dough will start to pull away from the sides of the pot and stick together. When this happens, take the playdough out of the pan and knead the dough until it becomes soft and smooth. Allow the dough to cool and then store it in an airtight container.
We were stuck inside most of the day today so we thought we would bring some summer fun into the classroom! During small groups today the children took to the pools and created their own water by cutting small strips of various colors of blue construction paper. It was a HIT! The children have mastered scissor safety and were very responsible with the way in which they controlled the scissors while in the pools to keep themselves and their friends safe. Way to go everyone!
We have been learning about the number ten this week. We have learned a new song about the number ten and also how to spell it! We also had the chance to use yummy marshmallows to outline the number ten while working our small motor muscles in our hands and number recognition for number ten.
