The Toddlers have been strengthening their fine motor skills. The boys and girls used clothespins to move pom poms into colored cups. The children worked on color recognition and sorting… they did a great job!
Throughout the month, the Toddlers have been learning all about their senses. Today we focused on touch. The boys and girls molded and manipulated playdoh while strengthening their fine motor skills. We also worked on sorting today. We practiced placing soft and hard balls into the correct container. The children did a great job determining where the objects belong.
Our Art Center this month is a beading center. This is a fun way to work on the tiny muscles in your preschooler’s fingers. The children have enjoyed making bracelets for themselves, moms, dads, sisters, brothers, and friends in class.
This month we are learning all about our senses! During group time this week, we have been reading the story, “Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear?” The children like to chime in on all of the noises the animals make throughout the book. During our art center today, the boys and girls used their fine motor skills to add white rice to the polar bears body.
All about those fine motor muscles this morning!
The preschoolers had fun finger painting. They explored how to make different colors and experienced their senses by feeling the paint between their fingers and on the paper.
We worked on tracing lines while practiced our crayon grip and strengthening the muscles in our fingers.
How do we hold a crayon?
Changing writing surfaces is a great way to develop fine motor muscles. Through out the week using our Handwriting Without Tears program the preschools write on paper, chalkboards, white dry erase boards, dry erase letter blocks, and the smartboard. Today the preschoolers worked on the letters we have learned so far this year on chalkboards.
The preschoolers learned about the importance of corn to the Native Americans. Next we rolled ears of corn through paint to create a beautiful print. Ask your preschoolers what Native Americans call corn!
