  • Fabulous Fall and Farm

The toddlers are enjoying a fabulous fall full of squirrel songs, apple sorting /peeling, rectangle scarecrows, and name building with fall leaves.   Our centers this month are designed to give the toddlers the opportunity to explore farm animals, farm books, farm puzzles, new textures in the sensory bin,  and “cooking apple pie” in the dramatic play center.  We have milked a “cow”, sorted leaves, and continue to enjoy the season through purposeful play.

  • Fun Fall on the Farm

We have had so much fun with fall and farm activities in the toddler room this month.  Lots of sensory experiences have been planned to help explore and learn. An apple peeler provided us with fine motor practice, yummy snack, and cute photo opportunity. Watercolor, glue, and other art mediums were provided to create fall foxes, scarecrows, and leaves.  Old McDonald has been a favorite classic to sing and play with instruments.  We discussed things that we were thankful for and talked about foods that families eat on Thanksgiving Day.   We are so thankful for our toddlers and their families!

  • Red Apples

Our toddler class continued to learn about the color red as we took turns peeling apples.  Our fine motor skills were put to the test as well as revisiting our study of the five senses. We enjoyed our peeled apple slices for snack. A yummy lesson indeed! We will be “picking” apples next week – a picture of this will be included in the color book sent home at the end of the year.

  • Feeling like Fall!

From candy corn art and letter building, to leaf sorting, to spider web letter identification, to pumpkin seed letter matching… Fall is officially in full swing in the Preschool room!

  • Finishing up with Fall

We had a great time celebrating Autumn in the toddler room!

Our Discovery bins were filled with beans, leaves, mini pumpkins and scoops and bowls to practice pouring and scooping.  These bins also foster discussion of colors, letters, and shapes.

We used fall colored fingerprints to make turkey feathers for a Thanksgiving craft!

Our watercolored leaves turned into fall foxes!

We practiced fine motor skills by coloring, stickers, and fall themed playdough cookie cutters.

Fall provides some yummy apples.  We used the special peeler to get our snack prepared!

Fall was fun! Winter is coming…

  • We’re Going on a Bear Hunt!

We went on a bear hunt in the PM Preschool and Preschool Prep classes! We read the story, “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt” and reenacted it by going on our own classroom bear hunt!

Through the grass “swishy swashy, swishy swashy”

Through the water “splish splosh, splish splosh”

Through the mud “squelch squerch, squelch squerch”

Through the forest “stumble trip, stumble trip”

Through the snow storm “hooo wooo”

Through the cave “tip toe, tip toe”

We ended the day with a bear “hunt and color” sort!

  • Hands-on Fall Activities

The Preschoolers and Preschool Preppers have been apart of many fun, hands-on explorations this month! We opened up a pumpkin, made our own homemade applesauce and had some animals visit the classroom!

  • Fall Leaves and Thankfulness Trees!

Fall season is coming to an end, but we have had so much fun with the colors of Fall, and the leaves that come from trees in the Fall. We also had some Thanksgiving stories, art projects, and got to make our own mini apple pies for a Thanksgiving treat in school! We are so thankful for all of our students in the toddler classroom.

Painting our leaves for our Thankfulness Tree! Each child got to paint their leaf, and then tell us what they are thankful for this Thanksgiving season 🙂
