  • Seeing Green!

Color recognition is a skill that uses the cognitive function, which is what our brains use to think, reason, and remember. Through cognitive reasoning, children link visual clues, such as colors, to the word it corresponds to, which is recalled from the use of their cognitive function.

The toddlers have been learning all about the color green this month! We incorporated the color green into lots of activities this week, for them to have the continual to exposure to one color, in which they can link to the word, “green”. They went on a hunt for the color green, used green markers, crayons, chalk, and paint, to create different artwork, and used green circles and triangles to sort shapes! Our friends sure made green week fun!

Our theme this month is scary cute… MONSTERS! We read “Go Away Big Green Monster” and our toddler friends are already starting to make monsters of their own!

We also have lego-eating monsters. Our lego-eating monsters are used to teach our toddlers to match the color of the lego, with the color of the monster. With feeding the monsters, our friends are learning how to sort colors, use fine motor skills, and take turns!

  • Rainy days don’t keep these smiles away!

We had our first rainy day of the school year this week. You know what that means… indoor recess! Our friends had fun with parachute games and songs. We also had Ms. Joanie come in Tuesday for music. Combine that, with a lot of dancing during music and movement, it was a rainy day well-spent!

  • A Day in the Life of a Toddler at Creative Tots

Hello, parents! We know that some of our toddlers may not be able to tell you what a typical morning looks like in our toddler room, so we want to show you! Here at Creative Tots we follow a daily schedule. Following a daily schedule is beneficial in several ways, such as giving them a sense of familiarity, and helping them to learn self-discipline and independence. Below you can find our schedule and some pictures of our toddler friends going about their daily tasks!

Step Into Spring Kids Fashion Show

    Kenwood Country Club
    March 13, 2011

I think I just witnessed the future leaders of Cincinnati… if not America. On behalf of the Help Me Grow program provided by Lighthouse Youth Services, Creative Tots hosted a fashion show at Kenwood Country Club with some of the cutest kids in the Tri-State.

Hey Tyra, no need to search out winners on America’s Next Top Model, they’ve been spied right here.

Of course some of the kids were a little shy on the runway but that only served to boost the OMG/AHH factor while others had a natural swag that they brought to the show. Along with the spirited youths, audience members were delighted by the fashion—special thanks to Castle House and The Wardrobe. Proud to say I’ve bought dresses from both stores!
