  • How many can you count?

This week in Early 3s we are focusing on Math. The students watched Ten Little Numbers on the ipad during small groups. This is a fun way to practice numbers and counting at home.

During Yoga Relaxation today we used our bodies to practice Triangle Pose. Integrating new skills and knowledge with any physical activity is a really fun way to help preschoolers memory.

  • Easy as 1,2,3

Today we practiced numbers 1,2, and 3!

Ms. Katy lead a Number Hunt on our Smartboard in search for all the number 1’s. The preschoolers strengthened their fine motor muscles and practiced drawing circles during their hunt.

We ended our day of number fun by watching “10 Little Numbers.” The preschoolers LOVE watching videos on the Smartboard and these songs are a great way to help your little one learn letters, numbers, shapes, and colors. They are fun, educational, and easy to search on YouTube!

  • Seed Graphing

Friday we read Up, Down and Around by Katherine Ayres . We discovered all kinds of different seeds just in time for Summer!  At small groups the boys and girls used their sorting skills and separated their own bag of seeds based on shape and size. Then they glued each seed onto their seed graph and was able to see how many of each seed they had. What a fun way to learn about seeds and sorting! 51uTdP0EZyL__SS400_

  • Rolling the Dice

Today, we continued to work on our numbers, focusing on 11-20.  As the children rolled the die, they turned the number number they rolled into a higher number by placing a one in front of it.  For example, if they rolled a six, it would become sixteen.  This was a new and exciting way to practice our numbers!

We also practiced our number recognition and one-to-one correspondence.  The boys and girls picked a number, then put the corresponding frogs onto their lily pads.

  • Number 18 Expertise

Today, the boys and girls practiced counting, tracing and writing the number 18.  With all of the loops and turns involved, it proved to be a tricky one!  When making the 8, it help the children to identify the letter “s” that is made when half of the 8 is written.  After realizing this, the boys and girls became masters of 18 in no time!
