  • We had a great second day in the early 3’s class! We worked on lining up –and they are quickly learning how to do this! I’m so proud of them! We practiced listening for a “quiet signal” prompt and responding correctly. In small group time, one group of children painted on foil –a fun sensory art activity. Another group of children learned how to play at the kitchen center –knowing how to properly use the center will advance their dramatic play development. The other group learned how to use the learning activities in the Early 3’s center. One of the activities we focused on is a sorting colors and shapes activity.

I am excited to learn with your children and see what this year holds for us! 🙂

  • Little Chefs!

  • Week 2 of Summer Camp!

We’ve had quite an exciting week of COOKING! The children loved making strawberry jam, pancakes, and carrots with hummus! We also created caterpillars in a jar to go along with Eric Carl’s book “The Very Hungry Caterpillar.” Children enjoyed playing with the colorful pasta in the sensory table. This week, the children brought home a rolling pin and play dough to practice their cooking skills.

  • A Tasty Treat…

To review the concepts of top, middle, and bottom, The Toddlers made a tasty treat. A graham cracker bottom, icing in the middle, and freshly cut strawberries on top. The boys and girls used their fine motor skills to spread the icing all over the cracker.

  • Cooking Up Some Snow Playdough

We made our very own batch of snow play dough today in small groups.  We measured and mixed the ingredients found on the recipe to create a wonderful bowl full of fun.  Our special ingredient was of course…glitter to make it sparkle like freshly fallen snow.

  • Run Run As Fast As You Can…

We completed our last gingerbread book today during group time, The Gingerbread Girl goes Animal Crackers.  We decided to make our own gingerbread girl to gobble up!  We added the ingredients, mixed and stirred, stirred and mixed, then formed the dough into the shape of a gingerbread girl!  We knew from all of the stories we read that once we put her in the oven, WE COULD NOT PEEK or she might escape!  We went outside for recess while she baked in the oven, but someone must have peeked because when we came inside, she was gone!  The children searched the classroom and finally found her in the library!  We used the rest of the gingerbread dough to make gingersnaps for snack time.  They were delicious!

  • Making Bread like the Little Red Hen

Who will help me, ask the little red hen.  Well, unlike the goat, pig, and dog, all the children leant a hand to make our home made bread today!  That meant that we all are able to enjoy the fruits of our labor….delicious!   We also made our own homemade butter!
