During the month of April, we’ve been learning about bugs and where they live. So, today we made our own edible dirt for our edible bugs.
We started with two packages of french vanilla instant pudding.
Next we added 3 cups of milk,
butter,
and cream cheese.
Then we mixed it all together.
And saved the best part for last, we crushed Oreo’s!
Then we layered it, and added some Creepy Crawlers fruit snacks for bugs.
Today the toddlers cooked Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffins!
We dumped in all the ingredients.
Then we blended it all together.
Baked them for 30 minutes.
And it was time to enjoy!!
You can find the recipe we followed at http://www.pbs.org/food/recipes/pumpkin-cream-cheese-muffins/?print=1&p=4042.
Today for snack the toddlers created their very own “mummy pizza!”
First, they spooned on the pizza sauce.
Next, they added strips of string cheese.
Then we baked them for five to seven minutes at 400 degrees.
Finally, after adding eyes it was time to eat!

We had so many delicious apples left over from yesterday’s sorting activity we decided to put them to good use. After reading the book, The Apple Pie Tree by Zoe Hall the students sliced apples, followed a recipe and made their own Apple Crisp. After cooking their delicious creations, the children enjoyed them as a snack! Cooking with children is a wonderful way to practice following directions, build basic math skills. sequencing, hand-eye coordination, and building fine motor muscles.
