Miss Sarah taught us all about the Desert Habitat of the Sahara Desert to close out our travels this month. We compared the rain fall totals of the Sahara with that of Cincinnati…what a difference!!!
We get around 42 inches of rain a year!
Then we traveled out to the sandbox to see if we could create waves and dunes in the sand by blowing air through straws. The wind in the desert creates massive sandstorms that can reshape the entire landscape and block out the sun for days! We had to control our breath and reshape our sand just like in the desert.
