  • Polar Bears

This month we are learning all about our senses! During group time this week, we have been reading the story, “Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear?” The children like to chime in on all of the noises the animals make throughout the book. During our art center today, the boys and girls used their fine motor skills to add white rice to the polar bears body.

  • Fall Trees!

This month, the Toddlers have been exploring the theme of nature. We have talked about how the leaves change colors as the seasons turn. The boys and girls used their fine motor skills to stamp red, yellow, and orange leaves all over their trees.

  • A is for Apple!

This week we are working on the letter “A” in the toddler room. The boys and girls used apple stampers to make colorful art for our classroom. We practiced counting to 3 and worked on color recognition: red, green, and yellow!

  • Native Americans of Long Ago…

We learned last week how some Native Americans, long ago, used to use large tree trunks to carve  into boats, called canoes.  We also reviewed the symbols that some native americans used to communicate and tell stories.  We incorporated some of these symbols onto our own canoes during small groups.

  • Leaf Man

We jumped right into our new theme of nature by reading “Leaf Man” by Lois Elhert during group time. The children were fascinated by all of the different colors and leaves throughout the book. The boys and girls will have a chance to build their very own leaf man on the magnetic board this week. The afternoon class was lucky enough to enjoy this book outside on this beautiful fall day!

  • Happy Halloween from the Toddler Room!

The Toddlers had a spooktacular day at school! To celebrate Halloween, we sang “5 Little Pumpkins Sitting on a Gate”, read a spooky story, and made silly jack-o-lanterns. The boys and girls used their fine motor skills to add a face to their pumpkins. We hope that all of our Toddler friends have a fun and safe night trick-or-treating!!

  • Watch me scribble!

Fine motor skills are an important part of development and school readiness. Today the Toddlers practiced tuning these skills by coloring with crayons. Scribbling is one of our fine motor objectives for this month. Children learn that they can express themselves through lines, shape, and squiggles. Allow time for coloring at home and see what your child can create!
