  • Secret Pizza Party

We read the story Secret Pizza Party by Adam Rubin, and had our very own secret pizza party in the toddler room! We used slices of bread, cut into a heart shape, for each of our friends to make their own personal pizzas!

After we finished making our pizzas, we popped them in the oven, and made our “‘P’ is for ‘pizza'” letter page!

Our pizzas were smelling great, so it was time to give them a try!

It was such a fun pizza party in the toddler classroom 🙂

  • Grinch Day!

You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch!!  Our preschoolers enjoyed a fun day filled with activities all about the story How the Grinch Stole Christmas!

We read the story and did a journal response on how we would make the Grinch smile!  We also showed off our best grinchy faces!

  • Sorting Letters

One of our preschool math goals this month was sorting.  We have been sorting all sorts of things; hearts by size, colors, shapes, and for this activity, we sorted letters.  All letters are made up of lines.  Some have straight lines like A, L and T.  Some letters like O and S have curvy lines.  And some letters use both kinds of lines such as B, D, and R.  There were a lot more letters that used both kinds of lines we discovered!  We looked at each of our letters and decided which category they all fit into and sorted them that way!

  • Love is in the Classroom

The month of February is all about the love. Our shape of the month (heart) and color of the month (pink) can be seen all around our classroom, and in the activities our toddler friends have been working on each day. We’ve even been practicing our gentle hugs to share with our friends. We are all feeling the love, and we can’t wait to celebrate Valentine’s Day with the toddler families on Thursday and Friday!

We even played a Valentine version of “Duck, Duck, Goose”, saying “Heart, Heart, Valentine”, instead! This really helps them with listening skills, following directions, and taking turns. They also have a blast doing it!

    Happy Valentine’s Day!

  • Preschool Prep Valentine’s Day

We placed baking soda and heart glitter into the tray and took turns squirting vinegar in the hearts to watch them foam up. We then talked about what was happening and what they saw when they put the vinegar in.

  • Color of the Month!

This month we will be learning about the color pink. During group time, we have been reading the book, “Little Pink Book”, and searching around the room for objects that are pink.  The children used their fine motor skills to paint pink flamingos during art center and hearts at the easel.

  • Calico Cats!

For our first pet craft of the month we made calico cats out of shapes! The children used their fine motor skills to add circle eyes, triangle ears, rectangle whiskers, and a heart nose. During this activity we went over shape and color recognition!

  • Ready, Set, Ride!

We hit the road again today with our bikes, trikes and scooters.  Bike riding is an aerobic exercise and endurance activity that helps kids develop strength, balance, and overall fitness. It strengthens the heart, lungs, and lower-body muscles and bones. Other benefits of bicycle riding include burning calories, and developing and strengthening knee muscles.  So keep on riding kids!

  • Valentine’s Day Excitement!

Happy Valentine’s Day!  These little heart breakers had a love-filled morning with our Valentine activities.  Using our color recognition and sorting skills, the boys and girls sorted their very own box of candy hearts on their candy heart graphs.  Ask your little valentine how all of the hearts were sorted.  The children then had the opportunity to pass out their Valentine’s to each child.  The boys and girls really enjoyed celebrating friendships!
