    How Does Your Garden Grow?

What does a plant look like? What does it need to grow? We learned about the parts of a plant, the plant life cycle and the difference between fruits and vegetables during a visit from the Cincinnati Museum Center. We rolled up our sleeves and spent some time digging in the dirt and planted our own seed to take home to add to our growing garden!

  • Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss

We celebrated Dr. Seuss’ birthday last week in the preschool room and each day brought a fun, new, crazy adventure!  We hopped on Pop and Pretended to be the Cat in the Hat, we rhymed and counted and learned about keeping our earth healthy, we even planted our very own Lorax seed!  I think our most favorite day was Wacky Wednesday for sure though!  The room had crazy, wacky things at every turn like the cubby tags upside down, a cup on the door handle, our soap was in the tissue box, and furniture was all moved all over the place!  Our activities for small groups were even wacky!  We played “WHACK” the letter with a flyswatter, we read a Christmas story in the tower, and we colored pictures upside down underneath the table! It was an awesome week of fun, silly activities and lots of sensory learning fun too!

  • Daytime / Nighttime

In the toddler room, we discussed the difference between daytime and nighttime during our large group.  While in small group, the students sorted activities by things that we do during the day (ride bikes, eat breakfast, etc.) and things we do at night ( sleep, watch fireworks, dinner, etc.).  We then enforced the the idea by completing a daytime/nighttime craft.

We have also been having fun working on our art show projects.  Here is a peak at our collaborative piece.  See everyone on Friday night!

  • The Lorax…How can WE help our earth?

On Tuesday the K Prep students continued their Dr. Seuss study with another popular book, The Lorax. We learned how important it is to take care of OUR earth and some simple ways to help keep it healthy. We started by planting a green bean seed and learned how to take care of it so it grows healthy and strong.
