We read the story “Perfect Square” and used this as the inspiration for our art project this week. In the story, the squares get ripped and torn, but are created into something new and beautiful. We challenged our preschoolers to think outside of the box! They tore apart their squares and put the pieces together to recreate their square into something new as well!
We have been talking about habitats in Preschool! This week we spent some time focusing on specific habitats such as; the desert, ocean, grasslands, and arctic. The kids had fun sorting some animals into their correct habitats! We discussed what each animal needed from their environment, and if they would be able to survive elsewhere.
In Preschool, we are practicing our letter formation in creative ways so we can get ready to write!
The first three weeks of K Prep are dedicated to getting back into the swing of things and preparing for our big year of growth! We have been fine tuning our letter sound recognition with letters a-e. We did touch on uppercase letters, but our main focus in K Prep will always be the lowercase letters. Lowercase letters are the letters we will encounter the most while reading our classroom readers. Our focus in writing through next week involves the proper formation and orientation of our first names (almost always start at the top!) Our math study included reviewing one to one correspondence while counting to 20 and recognizing numbers 1-5. Looking forward to a GREAT year!
In a fun preschool lesson this week, science and friendship collide! The kids learned that we could mix colors to create new ones! We tied this lesson in with this month’s character theme: friendship. Each child met a new friend as we conducted the experiment. We talked about how we are all beautiful on our own, but when we form new friendships, something beautiful comes out of it (aka the new color created!).
Our toddler orientation days were unBEElievable! We explored our classroom, met new friends, listened to bumble bee stories and songs, and played outside.
