  • Sorting Hearts

The Toddlers have been working on sorting over the past couple of months. This week the boys and girls worked on sorting hearts by shape and color. The children were put into small groups and practiced taking turns sorting into different piles. They’re doing a great job!

  • Fantastic February

The studio toddlers had a fantastic February.  We focused on the color pink and heart shape in honor of Valentine’s Day.  Pink hearts were repeated during games, finger plays, crafts, sensory bins, songs, stories, and more.  The toddlers practiced fine motor skills making love bug hats, lacing hearts, and  painting bags during our Valentine’s Day party.  We also incorporated purposeful play throughout our study of space.  The toddlers loved dressing up as astronauts, blasting off rockets, an astronaut obstacle course, stamping letters to spell their names on rockets, puzzles, books and scooping in our space sensory bins. The Bengals heading to the Super Bowl was all the rage in Cincinnati so we had a class pep rally learning about Bengal tigers and creating a keepsake craft.  A fun February for all!

Thank you to our friends at I Heart Crafty Things for this amazing idea!

  • Numbers & Counting in Preschool!

We have been working hard building our number concepts and recognition.  We have been learning to touch the item we are counting as we say a number and that we can only say 1 number as we touch it.  We use all sorts of things in school to count and blocks and plastic hearts have been a go to the last few weeks!

  • Love is in the Air!

The PM Preschool class had fun gearing up for Valentines Day this year! Our lessons were themed specifically for this special holiday!

The kids used their fine motor skills to tear up pieces of paper and glue them into the hearts for this Valentines Day craft, “I love you to pieces”.

Pancakes for snack in our pajamas for letter “P” week! What a fun day!

Making Valentine bracelets and working those fine motor skills!

Building letters with candy hearts (yes we were able to eat a few)!

Valentines Day “sense of hearing” lesson. The children closed their eyes and shook one egg at a time. They had to make their best predictions of what was inside!

Math and fine motor collide in the next number ordering activity!
