Thanks for celebrating Valentine’s Day with us!
Thanks for celebrating Valentine’s Day with us!
The month of February is all about the love. Our shape of the month (heart) and color of the month (pink) can be seen all around our classroom, and in the activities our toddler friends have been working on each day. We’ve even been practicing our gentle hugs to share with our friends. We are all feeling the love, and we can’t wait to celebrate Valentine’s Day with the toddler families on Thursday and Friday!
Some of our friends, checking out all of the snow outside 🙂
Some heart-shaped fun, with matching and counting!
We even played a Valentine version of “Duck, Duck, Goose”, saying “Heart, Heart, Valentine”, instead! This really helps them with listening skills, following directions, and taking turns. They also have a blast doing it!
What a sweet moment between two of our friends 🙂 ….
Happy Valentine’s Day!
What a busy week for the Preschool Prep class! One of the many lessons they were able to do this week was called “Mitten Math”. By engaging in this activity, the students were able to work on their counting skills as well as their one to one correspondence.
In another activity, students were able to work on their prewriting skills. They did this by drawing letters and shapes into salt trays. They all had fun being creative and practicing what they have learned through this sensory experience!
Another activity that everyone really enjoyed was the winter letter hunt! The kids had to dig through white winter sensory materials to find a letter. They had to then identify the name and sound of that letter.
Last week we learned all about the letter M. We practiced writing it, finding it, and sorting them by upper and lowercase.   It was good practice for cutting, gluing, and sorting as well. They worked so hard on this activity and there were lots of proud moments!! Their little serious and proud faces say it all!
We enjoyed an art exploration activity last week where we got to sponge paint some snowmen with marshmallows! It was a very fun and messy activity!
It sure doesn’t feel like it is winter but we are still celebrating it in the classroom! This week we practiced number recognition and counting with a snowman game. First we rolled a koosh and whatever number it landed on or closest to is how many snowflakes we counted! We had so much fun with this activity and everyone already asked when they will get to do it again!
We spent the last 2 days before break having some great Christmas fun in the Preschool Class. We practiced counting by counting “Skittle” Ornaments onto our Christmas trees.
We practiced our tracing skills and traced a Christmas tree working extra hard to keep our pencils on the lines.
We also worked out hand strength and had some fun playing with red and green playdough.
On Friday we celebrated Grinch Day! We read the story the Grinch and talked about ways we could make the Grinch happy.
We then got to make some special Grinch Dust that we will sprinkle in our yard on Christmas Eve to let the Grinch know that we have all taken great care to keep Christmas spirit in our homes and love our loved ones!
We got to end our day watching Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch and enjoy a special Grinch popcorn snack.
