  • Art Show Sneak Peek

On March 9, 2018, we will host the annual Creative Tots Art Show.  This is a fun evening for children to show their families selected art pieces that they have worked on during the year.  The art projects involve fine motor skills and different art techniques.  The students have already started working on pieces for the art show but we don’t send them home.  We keep all these at school for the big reveal in March.  Here is a sneak peek at part of our first piece.

  • Hello Yellow!

Hello Yellow!  The color focus for the month of September is YELLOW.  We have used all of our senses to immerse ourselves in yellow.  We have read a book called Hello Yellow about a parade, we have watched videos and sang songs about the color yellow, sorted items by color, and our “lemonade” sensory tub is filled with all types of yellow items for pouring and scooping.  During small group, the mystery can was filled with all yellow items (banana, corn, yellow crayon, yellow car, yellow monkey, duck, etc.).  We also tasted yellow lemons and did lemon prints.  The children combined our letter study and color study by string painting a “B” to create a yellow bumble bee.  On Friday, we took turns measuring and pouring and made yellow play dough!  We will continue to focus and yellow in the classroom throughout the month.  You can reinforce at home by having your child find yellow items around the house and pointing out yellow things in their everyday lives.

  • Toddler Schedule

  • Toddler Room Activities!

We had such a fun couple of months, with Spring activities such as, gardening, and learning about bugs and insects that live in the garden! Below you can see some of the April and May activities we did.

    Matching colors:
Finding the bunny tail to match the color of the bunny!

Matching the jelly bean to the color on the oval!

    Counting Flowers:
For this game, our friends rolled a die, and the number they got, that’s how many flowers they “planted” in their pots!

Name building: Writing their names with flowers!

    Purple Party!:
Learning about the color purple, we found a bunch of purple items around our classroom, and then had a PURPLE snack–grape jelly fold-overs!

They got to spread the jelly on their bread 🙂

This school year has FLOWN by, and we have had so much fun watching our toddlers grow, learn, and play. Thank you for sharing the joy of your children with us! Happy Summer!!!

  • April Part One: Insects and Gardening

April’s theme in Preschool Prep is based around gardening and insects. We have integrated this theme into our daily curriculum and are having so much fun!

The Very Hungry Caterpillar story retelling

    Bug Fossils!

Each day this month we have done a “Daily News” segment in the classroom 🙂 We first have someone introduce the news, and then we work together to figure out what month and day of the week it is. Next, we choose a student to be our “weather kid” for the day. This person gets to wear a special badge and report the weather based on what they see outside and how it feels! Lastly, we complete a feelings chart where the students pick a face that mimics how they are feeling that day (all of the children have picked the happy face so far)!
