  • Insect Adventures in Preschool

Spring has arrived, and we have started learning about bugs and plant life! We read “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” and retold the story with pictures cards.  We then acted out the butterfly life cycle!

Butterfly Life Cycle Part 1: The mama butterfly lays her egg on a leaf.

Butterfly Life Cycle Part 2: A caterpillar emerges from the egg and is out searching for food.

Butterfly Life Cycle Part 3: The caterpillar wraps itself in a cocoon or chrysalis.

Butterfly Life Cycle Part 4: After a couple weeks, the caterpillar breaks from the cocoon and….

    …turns into a beautiful butterfly!

  • It’s Easter Time!

We have been having fun with spring activities and talking all about bunnies, eggs, bugs, and flowers, even if we had to pretend it was nice and warm outside!  We sponge painted some Easter eggs, made some cut spring chicks hatching from their eggs and even counted spring flowers into eggs for others to find and count!

  • An Eggcellent Easter Week in Preschool!

Easter came early this year at Creative Tots! Our Preschool class celebrated by doing Easter themed activities all week!

  • Shamrocks and Rainbows!

March has been all about rainbows, leprechauns, pots of gold, and shamrocks!  We made fun snacks, created fun art projects and even mixed up some scientific luck potions!

  • T is for Teddy Bear

We had a fun day at school while learning about letter T!  Students got to bring their teddy bears to school and they got to join in on our fun activities!  They played with us in centers, listened to story, and got to join in our dancing!  We even had them join us for small groups where we worked on writing the letter T, sorting and graphing our gummy bear snack and worked on fine motor skills while we laced our teddy bear cards!  It was a fun special day in preschool!

  • Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss

We celebrated Dr. Seuss’ birthday last week in the preschool room and each day brought a fun, new, crazy adventure!  We hopped on Pop and Pretended to be the Cat in the Hat, we rhymed and counted and learned about keeping our earth healthy, we even planted our very own Lorax seed!  I think our most favorite day was Wacky Wednesday for sure though!  The room had crazy, wacky things at every turn like the cubby tags upside down, a cup on the door handle, our soap was in the tissue box, and furniture was all moved all over the place!  Our activities for small groups were even wacky!  We played “WHACK” the letter with a flyswatter, we read a Christmas story in the tower, and we colored pictures upside down underneath the table! It was an awesome week of fun, silly activities and lots of sensory learning fun too!

  • Dr. Seuss Week!

We had a blast this week celebrating Dr. Seuss’ birthday! Each day we chose one of his books to focus our lessons and snacks around. These books included: Horton Hears a Who, The Lorax, Wacky Wednesday, Hop on Pop, and The Cat in the Hat.

    Monday: Horton Hears a Who

We made our own snack to represent the clover Horton carries!

    Tuesday: The Lorax

We planted green bean seeds in our Lorax cups!

    Fine motor truffula trees

Truffula seeds (aka Trix cereal) for snack!

    Wednesday: Wacky Wednesday

The kids and teachers dressed “wacky” for the day, even the classroom was “wacky”!

Coloring under the tables… How wacky!

“Wacking” specific letters with a fly swatter!

Wacky Wednesday snack:  jell-o that appears to be red koolaid! We tricked them all!

    Thursday: Hop on Pop

We practiced our rhyming skills by hopping on words that rhymed and trying to pop the bubble wrap!

    Popcorn snack!

    Friday: Cat in the Hat

    Dr. Seuss sensory tubs!

  • COUNT DOWN TO OUR ANNUAL ART SHOW…

The children have been working so hard throughout this year to create a variety of masterpieces using different mediums. We are looking forward to sharing them all with you on March 9th! The “Art Gallery” will be open from 5:30-7:00, come and enjoy all the children works anytime!  As a reminder, there are no classes that day in order to give the teachers time to prepare for the annual event.
