We had a lot of fun with some Halloween themed activities the days leading up to the holiday!
This week we learned all about the Pond Animal the Frog! It just so happened we also were learning all about the letter F!
We stamped the letter F frogs.
Frogs go through a life cycle. They start as eggs, then hatch into tadpoles and then they grow front legs and become froglets before losing their tail and becoming adult frogs.
We learned that frogs use their tongue to catch bugs and we pretended to be frogs and “caught” some flies.
Frogs can jump on average about 7 feet. We took turns jumping like frogs to see if we could go father. We all got pretty close, but none of us could jump farther than a frog!
We matched upper and lowercase letter frogs.
We reviewed our letters and numbers by hopping like frogs onto lily pads.
We fed our frogs insects while working our hand strength and fine motor skills.
Our math goal this month is SORTING! We have been sorting lots of things and this week we practiced sorting fruit loops by color! We had a lot of fun with this activity and learned all about finding the difference in a group of objects!
We practiced prewriting the letter E this week by building it with elbow macaroni!
We are having some fun in math this week!
Feeding our Shape Monsters…
Counting Candy Corn…
Filling our Tens Frame…
We finished our first art show project this week…. Here is a sneak peak for you!
We practiced our math goal of sorting by sorting squares and circles! This is just the beginning of our sorting practice and we will be having fun with all sorts of things!
This week was all about reviewing the first 3 letters we have learned! We got to review in some really fun ways!
We celebrated our first Book Party in Preschool! This was such a fun day and our students had such a blast with this! All day, our activities were revolved around the book. We read the story, discussed the days of the week, practiced tracing lines by helping the caterpillar get to his food, and colored a picture. We made a very hungry caterpillar by sponge painting and we retold the story by feeding the caterpillar all of his foods while counting them as we fed him! And our favorite activity was during snack time. We used “caterpillars” and put holes in our food just like the caterpillar did to eat them!
We read the story Perfect Square, a story about a square that got ripped and torn and turned into something new and beautiful. And then… we made our own creation with our own perfect squares!
It started out as a perfect square until I tore it and then it became an…
ELEPHANT!
and a FENCE!
