We have been so busy this month with our alphabet study!  This month we have been working on the letters M, N, and O.  In addition to letter recognition, we are working very hard on learning letter formation and the sound the letter makes.

  • Gingerbread Day!

Preschoolers got to have a special gingerbread day last week.  We read 2 gingerbread books, decorated a gingerbread picture, and even got to decorate and eat a gingerbread cookie which was everyone’s favorite part.  We graphed what each person bit off first and the majority of students took a bite from his head first!  We had a fun day and really enjoyed our special cookie treat!

  • The Preschool Feast

In preschool, we have been learning about The First Thanksgiving and what it may have been like for kids their age back then versus what they are like now.  We learned why they had a feast that very first Thanksgiving and we prepared our very own feast to enjoy!  Students practiced using a butter knife to cut strawberries, bananas, and oranges.  We learned to snap the “yucky” ends of the green beans.  Using a lot of arm strength, we made our very own butter by shaking cream… for a long time…  We crushed up graham crackers for our pie crust and we even made our very own bread in a bag.  On Tuesday, we enjoyed the fruits of our labor and got to eat all of the yummy food!

  • We Went on a Bear Hunt!

We read the story “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt” by Michael Rosen and Helen Oxenbury this week and preschool and we had a GREAT time!  When the preschoolers showed up for school they walked into a surprise obstacle course and they were all so excited to see what we were doing!  We read the story and then in order to practice our story retelling skills, we went on our own bear hunt and experienced all the parts of the story while searching for the bear with our binoculars!
