We explored some items from Madagascar today and made predictions whether or not we thought they would dissolve in water. After we made predictions, we tested them to see if we were correct!
We put our small muscles to work today as we build our own moveable snake. We talked about the different kinds of snakes living in Madagascar along with a variety of other animals we might see if were in Madagascar!
We will be introduced to two new word families this week.-it, and -ot. Today we focused on the -it family as we buddied up and read our -it family books in pairs. The Paired Reading strategy encourages peer teaching and learning. Students are divided into pairs and take turns reading aloud to each other. Reading with a buddy encourages students to try reading materials that may be just above their normal reading level. Paired Reading can also be used to build oral skills so that reluctant readers can work toward reading more confidently in front of a small group. Because the students have been so successful this year with their reading progress, this is a strategy that we will be able to incorporate on a more regular basis during small groups.
We have been working on measurement this month during our math studies and in anticipation of some snow, the kids made their own measurement tool to use when it does!
Creative Tots has specialized in the private education of both toddlers and preschool age children for over 15 years. We began in the heart of Madeira and now also have a new Mason location. We are specifically designed to focus on early childhood development for children ages 18 months to 5 years.
