Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss
The K Prep class celebrated Dr. Seuss’ birthday this week! On Monday we read Horton Hears a Who, and created a truffula tree treat and craft!
The children have been working so hard throughout this year to create a variety of masterpieces using different mediums. We are looking forward to sharing them all with you on March 9th! The “Art Gallery” will be open from 5:30-7:00, come and enjoy all the children works anytime! As a reminder, there are no classes that day in order to give the teachers time to prepare for the annual event.
Ms. Joanie introduced the students to the percussion family in music this week and brought her set of desktop bells to share with us. The children had the opportunity to compose their own original piece and share it with the class!
After an amazing performance by our little musicians, we celebrated the special day with family, friends, cupcakes and more.
Have you ever watched your child as they peer at their own reflection in a mirror? Your K Prep age children often try out silly faces and engage in dialogue with themselves. They may begin to see them identifying parts of their faces, examining differences between themselves and others, identifying shapes and contours, and engaging in more advanced thinking and questioning. Through exploring their own reflection in the mirror, children are learning a great deal about themselves and are developing their observational, expressive and reflective skills as well as a positive relationship with themselves. These self-portraits will be displayed at the art show in March!
We are humbled by the number of votes that were cast to help earn us Most Loved Preschool Award 2018 from Hulafrog. Thank you to all of our amazing families past and present for continuing to spread the word and support us. Year two of this award makes us feel loved!
Our second semester of enrichment classes have begun and Ms. Joanie’s music class is rockin’! As parents, we want to give our children every opportunity for successful growth. Yet, we don’t want them to grow up too fast! Music allows children to savor the best parts of childhood. There are also many benefits of music participation in the early years. Music encourages children to move! Moving is an integral part of preparing the brain to learn. Music also fosters a sense of community and belonging as well as provides an outlet for self-expression. School readiness is closely linked to music readiness. The same skills and experiences necessary for a child to be ready for music lessons when they are older are the same skills and experiences that enhance and even accelerate academic readiness and success. Listening, identifying patterns, problem-solving, creative thinking, and self-confidence are skills that music develops.
The K prep students have been working hard on TWO books this past week and during our short week this week. Our sight word focus has been on the words am & at. This is a precursor to our introduction to word families which begins when we return from Thanksgiving Break. We interacted with the sight words in a variety of ways and have been enjoying our time buddy reading the books we have mastered.
Creative Tots has specialized in the private education of both toddlers and preschool age children for over 15 years. We began in the heart of Madeira and now also have a new Mason location. We are specifically designed to focus on early childhood development for children ages 18 months to 5 years.
