  • Week 3 – Cooking Summer Playdate

Do you know the muffin man?  We baked up a storm during the cooking summer playdate this week.  We all worked together to make blueberry muffins on Monday.

If You Give A Mouse A Cookie…   We used the big mixer to make chocolate chip cookies from scratch on Tuesday.  The toddlers had one for snack and one to take home!  We also watched the mouse jump on the parachute!

We had mini donuts on Wednesday after reading If You Give A Dog a Donut!  We also worked on a donut craft and Kona Ice outside!

Pancakes on Thursday!  Each child got to choose a color and help flip the pancake!  Yummy snack!

We also worked on cupcake crafts, played in discovery bins, had fun outside, and enjoyed music time with Ms. Joanie.  A fun week!

  • Week 2 Music Playdate for Toddlers

We had so much fun at Music Camp this week.  Ms. Joanie came to see us everyday.  She played her guitar and sang some classics and a few new tunes.  We used shaker eggs to make our own music.

We took turns painting a tambourine.  After they dried, we added stickers so we could take home our own instruments.

Outside time is a big part of camp.  We make new friends, shoot hoops, and explore.

We took some time to work on a card for Father’s Day.  After painting each child’s foot orange, we turned the footprint into a guitar.  “My Dad Rocks!”

The Kona ice truck is always a big hit!

  • Down on the Farm – Toddler Summer Camp

We had a fun week at toddler summer camp – Down on the Farm.  We sang songs, read farm stories, played games, did crafts, ate special snacks, and played outside!  Yeehaw!

    My cute chick craft.

    Parachute fun!

Kona ice on Wednesday was a big hit!

We also had pink piggies (marshmallows) in the mud (chocolate pudding).

  • Mother’s Day, Water Study, and Summertime Sweets

Our study of gardens and flowers aligned nicely with our handmade Mother’s Day Cards.  The toddlers used stickers and drawn stems for the inside of the card while a sweet fingerprint bouquet was on the front.  We also created flowers using the bottom of a bottle and stickers.

We moved onto our focus on water and the ocean using sensory tubs and crafts.

Summer Sweets:  making muffins, creating popsicles, and ice cream match!

    Summer!!!

  • Special Days in the Toddler Room

This year we opted to recognize each child on their “special day”.  Many of these days landed close to their birthday – others were in the middle of the year just to celebrate each child.  An All About Me sheet was filled out and read to the class while the special day child sat in Ms. Kristen’s chair.  We were often able to read a favorite book or sing a favorite song according to the sheet.  Some of the children shared their favorite treat with our class.

  • Happy Earth Day!

  • Spring: Oval Eggs, Bunnies, and Garden

The toddlers shape study this month is the oval.  We have done lots of oval egg crafts and activities this month.  We have decorated an egg with washi tape, done an egg jelly bean match, and then of course an egg hunt!

Bunnies hop into our spring curriculum as well.  A ride on the big slide is fun for all!

Our discovery bins, sensory bin, and home living center focused on the garden and its bounty.  The bbq grill and veggies made for fun pretend “grill outs”.

    Fine motor skills:  lacing flowers!

Working on one more page of our color book.  We are putting the pages together for an end of year keepsake.

  • Rainbows

  • Planes, Trains, and Automobiles

Our focus of transportation has been fun this month in the toddler room!

    R is for Road

Lacing and sorting with all types of transportation manipulatives help toddlers work on their fine motor skills.

We had discussion of all different types of transportation and watched a video of hot air balloons taking flight.  This inspired a hot air balloon craft.  Our centers have included all types of transportation manipulatives including sailboats with shape locking sails.

We had fun with a name building choo choo train.  We discussed letters and colors and worked on name recognition.

We had fun with a paint sensory experience using the truck wheels to make tracks with the paint.

Dobber paints and stickers on transportation sheets help toddlers with one to one correspondence, color recognition, and fine motor skills.

Sorting by color, shape and size are objectives in the toddler room.

Our toddler class took a pretend flight on Creative Tots airlines.  We practiced buckling our seat belts and staying seated during the “flight”.  The flight attendants passed out a special snack to enjoy while looking out the windows at the ground below.

  • Valentine’s Day Parties!

We had such a terrific time at our 2019 Valentine’s Day parties.  The toddlers were so excited to celebrate with their families.  Ms. Joanie played her guitar, we had snacks, passed out valentines, created crafts, explored the sensory bins and had lots of fun!
